Brightspace Quick Tips: View as a Student

Use the “View as a Student” function in your profile to check the course from a student perspective.

If you are using “draft” mode or selective release on any content within your course, it is good practice to use the “View as a Student” function to make sure what you think students are seeing is correct. To access, use the dropdown by clicking on your name in the top right hand corner. Next to you current view you can select ‘change’ and click on View as a Student. Don’t forget to switch back to instructor mode when you are done.

Note: The View as a Student mode does not work for assessment tools. If you want to test assessment tools as a student, you will need to have a student account created and added to your course.

Campus Pack has been integrated with Brightspace

Campus Pack has been integrated with Brightspace. The Campus Pack tools (Blogs, Wikis, Journals, Podcasts) are available within Content>Add Existing Activities>External Learning Tools. Once a tool is selected, the behaviour and usage is the same as it was in Blackboard.

Campus Pack is a set of social tools that can be integrated into e-learning environments. These tools are used in courses in customizable ways, allowing instructors to create anything from private journals in which students can track their work and progress to a course-wide, open Wiki that allows students to engage in collaborative and team projects. They can also be used outside of the course for individual blogging, groups, organizations and for collecting and sharing personal content. If you are interested in exploring these tools, view or download one of the user guides from Campus Pack.
